Call for Submissions (Edmonton): Performers & installations – FutureSmut: The 10th Annual Smut Cabaret – Nextfest

FutureSmut Cabaret - NextfestWhat will Smut look like in 5, 25, or 500 years?

Bring out your robots, your sci fi, your modern toys! Show us what the future of sex looks (and sounds, tastes, smells, feels) like. Smut embraces everything risqué, sexy, lewd and vulgar. Fetishes, desires, sexuality, and everything in between are welcome. Flaunt, taunt, and tease till your audience squirms with delight or disgust.

The Zookeeper is now accepting submissions for FutureSmut: the 10th Annual SMUT Cabaret, June 3, 2017. Emerging artists from all disciplines welcome: theatre, dance, film, performance art, visual art, installations, anything you can imagine into existence. High-energy interdisciplinary collaborations, non-traditional experimental performance, and performer-created work encouraged. Performances range from 30 seconds to full evening installations and roving performances. For the purpose of this festival, “emerging” generally refers to artists under the age of 30 who are not professionally represented. All performers must be at least 18 years old.

Please submit the following requirements, or any questions to the Smut Curator & Zookeeper, Samantha Jeffery, at SmutZookeeper@gmail.com:

  • An explanation of your piece/idea
  • Technical requirements, if known
  • Contact information, including website links and twitter handle
  • Any additional support material
  • If you would like to collaborate with an artist from another discipline

Submissions for the SMUT Cabaret will remain open until programming is full, but preference will be given to submissions received before May 10, 2017. (The latest deadline for submissions will be June 2, 2017.)
