Shakespeare by the Bow

Auditioning Albertan Graduates from 2013 – 2017 with NO previous SBTB/SITP experience

Theatre Calgary will be holding auditions in Calgary on Sunday April 30 for the company of Shakespeare by the Bow (SBTB) which will perform As You Like It, directed by SAMANTHA MACDONALD, at Prince’s Island Park with one week of Victors, Villains and Vixens, a collection of scenes from various Shakespeare plays created and directed by HAYSAM KADRI, at St Patrick’s Island.

There are a limited number of slots for Skype/Facetime auditions if you are currently studying out of province.


  • First day of program: Tuesday, May 23, 2017.
  • First day of rehearsal: Tuesday, May 30, 2017.
  • Opening: Tuesday, June 20, 2017.
  • Closing/end of program: Sunday, August 27, 2017.
  • Monday is the day off for the entire program.


  • Must be a graduate of a theatre program at a post-secondary institution within Alberta OR be an Albertan who has graduated from a theatre program at a post-secondary institution elsewhere. No housing or transportation will be provided.
  • Must have graduated from 2013 to 2017.
  • Cannot have signed ANY type of Equity contract since graduation.
  • Cannot have been in SBTB/SITP in a previous year.


  • One monologue/soliloquy of your choice from As You Like It (doesn’t have to be age or gender specific).
  • One song of your choice in any style and if you can play an instrument, please bring it to either accompany yourself or to play separately.
  • Be prepared to do a cold read of a character of our choice from As You Like It.


  • Please submit headshots and resumes to Susan McNair Reid, Theatre Calgary, at by the end of day Friday, April 21, 2017.
  • Please use “SBTB audition submission” in the subject line.
  • Successful applicants will be contacted and provided with further details.
