Bring your written vision to life!
The Alberta Drama Festival Association (ADFA) North Zone organizing committee is hosting a workshop for local aspiring playwrights who want to take the next step in presenting their work.
From Page to Stage will take place at Keyano Theatre & Arts Centre on Sunday, March 5 from 11 am to 5 pm. Participants will learn from renowned Alberta theatre artist and dramaturg Michelle Kneale. This workshop is sponsored by Theatre Alberta with funding from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and Christie Lites Sales, and is hosted in partnership with Keyano Theatre & Arts Centre.
The workshop is for youth and adults who have written a script, or are planning to, and who are wondering how to get it on stage. The workshop instructor Michelle Kneale will share what the next steps are: how to transform a script into a performance through dramaturgy, readings, workshopping, and finding the right people to help you.
Kneale has a rich background in theatre, including a Master of Arts in Theatre Studies at the University of British Columbia. She was the Artistic Associate for the Alberta Playwrights’ Network for 5 years and an Artistic Producer with Urban Curvz Theatre (now Handsome Alice Theatre) in Calgary. Kneale is currently a freelance dramaturg and the Secretary on the Playwrights’ Guild of Canada (PGC) Board of Directors, as well as the PGC Representative on the Board of Playwrights’ Canada Press.
From Page to Stage runs Sunday, March 5 from 11 am to 5 pm. The cost of the workshop is $20 per person, for questions contact hanna.fridhed@adfa.ca.
