Act Up! Theatre School hiring Teacher & Teaching Assistant for Cochrane

StoryBook Theatre is looking for an experienced drama teacher to instruct children ages 6-12 in our ten-week program where students will explore their creativity and imagination. Areas of concentration will be: warm-ups, voice, music, movement, storytelling, technical theatre and collaboration.

Teacher Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Drama and/or Education or equivalent professional experience.
  • Previous teaching or directing experience.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • High level of personal organization and planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must work well in a team setting.
  • Knowledge of technical theatre is an asset.
  • Basic First Aid is an asset.
  • Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check.

Assistant will help the Teacher instruct children ages 6-12 in our ten-week program. They will support instructors during workshops, stagecraft, drama activities and act as stage manager throughout the rehearsal process and final presentations. Duties also include supervising students during breaks and leading warm-up activities when required.

Teaching Assistant Skills & Qualifications:

  • Interest in Arts Education.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must work well in a team setting.
  • Knowledge of technical theatre is an asset.
  • Basic First Aid is an asset.
  • Must be willing to submit to a criminal background check.

Class Details:

  • Saturdays from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
  • April 1 to June 17.
  • No classes on April 15 or May 20.
