Accepting submissions for theatre, music, dance, spoken word, poetry, and more!
The Serca Festival of Irish Theatre will be presenting two Cabaret nights as part of our Festival programming for 2017. The first will be a part of the St. Patrick’s Day Ceilidh on the Avenue, which will also feature dinner, Irish dancers and a band. The Ceilidh takes place from 5:00 pm until late on March 17th at the Alberta Avenue Community League (9210 118 Ave, Edmonton). The Cabaret will begin at 6:30pm. The second Cabaret will be a “Late Night Irish Ceabaire”, starting at 9:30pm on Saturday, March 18th, also at the Alberta Avenue Community League.
We are accepting submissions from artists from all performance disciplines including (but not limited to) theatre, music, dance, spoken word, poetry, performance art, circus etc. The mandate of the Festival is to present work by or about people considering themselves to be Irish, regardless of other identifying monikers.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE IRISH OR OF IRISH HERITAGE TO SUBMIT.
We encourage submissions from people with diverse backgrounds. Performances should be between 5-15 minutes in length. Please include in your submission a description of the performance including the discipline, the number of performers involved, any technical requirements for the piece, the length of the piece and which day you would prefer. The Late Night Irish Cabaret on the Saturday will be a better fit for pieces with more mature content. All performers will receive an honorarium for performances.
Please send submissions to Artistic Director Liz Hobbs at serca.festival@gmail.com with the subject line “Cabaret Submissions”. Please also include any relevant photos or video if you have it, although this is not required. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Liz at the above email address.
Deadline for submissions: Friday, March 3 at midnight.
