Job (Edmonton): Assistant Professor, Theatre Production – MacEwan University

Hiring new full-time continuing position at the rank of Assistant Professor

MacEwan University’s Theatre Department is seeking an artist-educator specializing in theatre production to fill a new full-time continuing position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will have a diverse skill-set that draws from their area of specialization, as well as the ability to teach courses in a variety of areas related to theatre production. Because the successful applicant for this position will play a key role in planned changes to the program curriculum, the ability to work effectively in a student-centered, collegial environment is considered very important and a vision towards developing new approaches to under-graduate theatre education will be seen as an asset.

The Theatre Department is situated within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications of MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta. Beginning in September 2017, the Department will be housed at the new, state-of-the-art Centre for the Arts and Culture as part of MacEwan University’s main campus in downtown Edmonton. MacEwan’s Theatre Production Program has been part of the city’s vibrant arts community since the early 1970s, and its two-year Diploma builds on its reputation as one of the finest post-secondary musical theatre production training programs in Canada.

The preferred candidate will hold a minimum of an MA in theatre, must have teaching experience at the post-secondary level, an extensive background in theatre production as well as experience in either design, management and/or technical direction in both current and emerging technology practices.

Applicants will submit a letter of interest, current Curriculum Vitae, portfolio/or publications, and the names of three professional references. In addition, applicants will submit a teaching dossier that includes a teaching philosophy; a record of courses taught and course evaluations.

Review of applications will commence March 15, 2017 and the competition will remain open until the successful candidate has been found.

Questions about this opportunity may be addressed to Program Coordinator Melissa Cuerrier at cuerrierm@macewan.ca.
