From Cradle to Stage, Walterdale TheatreFestival runs May 15 – 20, 2017. SUBMIT NOW!

Walterdale Theatre’s 2017 From Cradle to Stage New Play Festival will be holding auditions on Friday, February 10 and Saturday, February 11 for John Richardson’s GUENEVERE and Tessa Simpson’s PORTRAIT OF A FAMILY DINNER.

The Festival runs from May 15-20, 2017.

GUENEVERE by  John Richardson

Synopsis: Love, aging, death and myth. Camelot is crumbling. King Arthur and his court are grown old. Guenevere has retreated to a nunnery. Lancelot is a monk. Arthur and his knights face their final hopeless battle as Guenevere struggles to save some little piece of Camelot–and herself.

  • F: Guenevere, 20-30, King Arthur’s Queen and Lancelot’s one time lover
  • 3F: Chorus of nuns, 40-70
  • F: Elaine of Astelot, 20-40, the ghost of a lover of Lancelot
  • M: Percival, 20-30, a knight of Camelot, returned from the Grail Quest
  • M: Lancelot, 20-30, King Arthur’s friend and Guenevere’s one time lover
  • M: Mordred, 20-30, King Arthur’s illegitimate and incestuous son
  • M: Arthur, 20-30, the King
  • M: Bedivere, 20-30, a Knight of Camelot, Arthur’s lieutenant in the final battle

Synopsis: Chris comes home to introduce Kristy, her first serious girlfriend, to her traditional parents, Basil and Victoria. When the glamorous Dorian and Sybil enter the house, Basil and Victoria must keep the girls from finding out the truth behind these mysterious strangers.

The first reading will take place on February 18 or 19 and rehearsals will begin in early March. Actors must be available for the entire Festival – May 15-20.

Auditioners will be assigned into distinct segments of time for each evening:

6:00pm-7:20pm or 7:40pm-9:00pm for February 10.
1:00pm-2:20pm or 2:40pm-4:00pm for February 11.

Auditions will consist of cold reads. Each auditioner will read scenes from the plays in combination with a few other auditioners.

Headshots and resumes are recommended but not required. Please bring all time conflicts to the audition. Drop-ins will be accommodated if time allows.
