Seeking Marketing & Box Office Manager beginning on or before February 1, 2017.
This position requires 20 hours a week February through April and 40 hours a week during the NUOVA Festival months May and June, 2017. The position will return to part time hours as of July 3, 2017.
DESCRIPTION: The Marketing and Box Office Manager is responsible for the operation and management of the NUOVA Box Office, phone and internet sales and in-person sales at events. The MBO Manager is also responsible for planning and executing a marketing plan for each event or production; maintaining NUOVA social media presence; and acting as Public Relations manager and Media Coordinator for the NUOVA Festival and the NUOVA arts season. This position also includes copy writing of all marketing materials, including but not limited to press releases, website content, show programs, direct mail letters, school tour materials and the NUOVA Festival guide. The position also required some layout and design skills.
Additionally, this position requires a fair degree of fund and resource development. The MBO Manager will also be responsible for Patron and Corporate stewardship; selling advertising space in the Festival Guide; and procuring in-kind and corporate support. Under the guidance of the artistic leadership, the MBO Manager will have weekly opportunities to write grants applications and sponsorship proposals. There may also be some volunteer management and Board of Director liaison. This is a good position for someone with either Box Office & Patron management experience or Development experience looking to diversify.
Reporting directly to the Artistic & Managing Director, this position requires a good sense of time and task management and experience in the non-profit sector. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, can prioritize tasks and work unsupervised. This position may also be responsible for overseeing and managing a seasonal intern work-study student.
Ideally, this position is filled on or before January 31, 2017, allowing for training and transition. The position will increase from 20 hrs/week to 40 hrs/week during the NUOVA Festival (May 7 – July 2, 2017) and reduce back down to part-time (20 hrs/week) in July and August.
SALARY: $18 – $20/hour depending on experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 – 3 years’ experience working for an arts organization and/or in the non-profit sector.
- Office administration diploma or equivalent experience required.
- Completion of a cultural management diploma or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in grant-writing and fund development.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Access.
- Familiarity and awareness of social media components and their optimization.
- Excellent written skills and acute attention to detail.
- Some operatic & musical theatre knowledge would be an asset.
