Advanced “Voice for the Actor” with Jane MacFarlane
This course is a continuation of the introductory course, taking the focus from the nature of voice production and applying it directly to text. The emphasis will be on freeing the natural voice as it pertains to performance and connecting that free sound to thought and impulse.
Over the 12 weeks, we will:
- Continue to identify habits and blocks to the free release of breath through an awareness of the anatomy & physiology of the voice and body.
- Deconstruct a Shakespeare sonnet to connect our impulses to complex ideas.
- Use the structures of Shakespearean monologues, keeping the text as immediate and human as possible.
- Work practically to make the transition from the “warm-up” to application in rehearsal and performance.
Class runs: Mondays – 9:30am – 11:30am, January 23 – April 24, 2017 – 12 sessions.
Cost: $275.00.
Location: Pine Studio at Evergreen Community Spaces, 1709 8th Ave NE.
