Award-winning Albertan Playwright chosen for Artstrek 2017
In celebration of Canada’s 150th Anniversary, and the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, Theatre Alberta and Artstrek 2017 proudly present VIMY, by award-winning Albertan playwright Vern Thiessen. Canada’s most famous military divisions fought together for the first time at Vimy Ridge, and out of that cooperation, our national spirit emerged. Thiessen’s VIMY will introduce Artstrek students to Canadian soldiers from across the country in a French field hospital, and a Nova Scotian nurse who cares for them.
This July, Alberta teens will join a talented team of theatre professionals and educators at Red Deer College for a challenging curriculum centered on VIMY.
Attend Artstrek 2017 at RDC’s state-of-the-art performing arts facilities during the following dates:
- Exploration I | 13 – 14 years old | Sunday – Friday, July 9 – 14
- Exploration II | 15 – 16 years old | Sunday – Friday, July 16 – 21
- Exploration III | 17 – 18 years old | Sunday – Saturday, July 23 – 29
