Edmonton artist and playwright Elizabeth Bowering passes
From Edmonton Journal, December 1, 2016:
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elizabeth Bowering (née Noseworthy) on November 28, 2016. Elizabeth passed away following a long battle with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), at the age of 62.
Elizabeth was born in St. John’s in 1954, and moved to Edmonton in 1977. She leaves behind a loving family, including her husband of forty years, Keith, children Jennifer (Kenton) and Grant, and grandchildren Malcolm and Coralie.
Elizabeth was an avid contributor to Edmonton’s arts community. She wrote and performed in numerous Edmonton Fringe plays. An accomplished visual artist, she co- ordinated Walterdale Theatre’s Art in the Lobby for many years. In 2013 she was presented with the Jack Wilson Award for outstanding lifetime contribution to the Walterdale Theatre.
MSA is a rare degenerative neurological disorder for which there is no cure. In the last years of her life, Elizabeth used her gifts as a playwright to raise awareness and funding for MSA research. [most recently with the production of Wind in her Sails]
