Call for Applications (Calgary): FREE “Courage Journey Workshop” – WP Puppet Theatre

WP Puppet Theatre, Free Workshop

Accepting applications for FREE 3-hour workshop

As part of WP Puppet Theatre‘s GIVE BACK program, we are pleased to gift a special three-hour version of our View from the Inside: Courage Journey Workshop to a non-profit organization upon successful application.

You provide the venue and 10 -20 participants. We provide the instruction with two professional project facilitators and all of the supplies for your group to make their own mask-body puppet.

What is a View from the Inside Workshop? The workshop creates a safe, welcoming environment to build confidence, coping and leadership skills, self-esteem, mental wellness, and resiliency. Participants are guided through a non-judgmental art making process where their personal stories will inspire the creation of mask-body puppets. They will have the opportunity to bring to light their experiences of challenges and resiliency through art making, storytelling, movement, live puppetry performance, and media technologies.

Participants will make a mask-body puppet using card stock and ephemera and explore: “public me” or the face they present to the public (outer mask), “private me” or their inner thoughts and private world (inside the mask), and attach objects which represent “connected to me” or their relationships and history. Discussions, reflection and sharing their masks will add to and strengthen the visual art process.
