Announcement (Alberta): Christie Lites Sales returns as Season Sponsor of Workshops By Request: Hometown Series – Theatre Alberta & Christie Lites Sales

christie lites logoCanadian Stage Lighting company supports professional workshops for Albertans – and we’re celebrating with a WORKSHOP GIVEAWAY!

Theatre Alberta is proud to announce that Christie Lites Sales has returned as the season sponsor of our Workshops by Request: Hometown Series, which will directly support skill-development workshops for theatre organizations across Alberta!

Theatre Alberta group members may apply for a workshop on any topic they choose through the Workshops by Request (WbR) program. Under the Hometown Series, Theatre Alberta will source an expert on that subject from a pool of highly trained professional artists who will then travel to the community and instruct the workshop. Theatre Alberta facilitates these workshops in all aspects of production for both technicians (e.g. stage lighting, scenic painting, makeup application, etc.), and performers (e.g. acting, improv, directing, etc.).

Through the support of Christie Lites Sales and our government funders, Theatre Alberta is able to subsidize the WbR program to ensure that all communities, regardless of resources, have access to professional, challenging, exciting, and necessary training. Applicants are charged only a small fee while Theatre Alberta provides an instructor honorarium, meals, travel, and a hotel as needed.

To celebrate our partnership, the first three current Theatre Alberta group members who request it, will receive a FREE 1-day stage lighting workshop! Fill out the online application; check the ‘payment enclosed’ box at the end – but don’t submit payment. It will be courtesy of Christie Lites Sales!

Workshops by Request: Hometown Series provides a direct link between professional artists and educators and the recreational theatre community in Alberta,” explains Keri Mitchell, Theatre Alberta’s Executive Director. “Theatre Alberta is proud to facilitate this link and ensure that our members are able to access the highest quality instruction, no matter where in the province they may live, at an affordable rate. Our partnership with Christie Lites Sales helps ensure that we can maintain and perhaps even grow the program in spite of a difficult fiscal environment.”

Christie Lites Sales is committed to delivering superior quality, service, value, and education about lighting technologies and their application. They supply the finest equipment and services to an extensive client base including worship spaces and religious organizations, theatre & productions, concerts, trade shows, television and film, architectural, industrial & display installations, and special events.
