FORT MCMURRAY CATHOLIC SCHOOLS is accepting applications for THEATRE TECHNICIAN in the Suncor Energy Performing Arts Centre (SECPA) at Holy Trinity High School.

The successful applicant, under the direction of the SECPA Manager, will work closely with SECPA, FMCSD and volunteer staff in all aspects of technical and operational theatre services. As a Team Member you will be required to work in the operation, set-up and strike of performances/events including but not limited to lighting, audio, rigging, carpentry in a Black Box Theatre setting.

Hours of work are based on a 40-hour work week however this position requires flexibility and adaptability as hours are structured around performances and events scheduled at the Suncor Performing Arts Centre and other applicable venues.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will possess a Technical Theatre Diploma from an accredited institution. A minimum of 1 year experience in the technical theatre is required.

All theatre technical skill sets will be considered but strength with lighting, sound, rigging and comfort with carpentry will definitely be an asset. A good understanding and knowledge of theatre operations, community theatre, facility rentals and safety procedures are a must essential for a well-managed theatre. A good sense of humor, working as team and the ability to work with a variety of clients in a diverse, fast-paced environment is essential. Standard First Aid and a valid Class 5 driver’s license are required. Additional training/certification such as fall arrest and aerial lift would be considered definite assets.
