What’s On (Edmonton): “Blackout” (Edmonton Fringe) – Grindstone Theatre

Blackout, Grindstone Theatre

Find comedy in the absurd, the repetitive, the mundane and the absurd.

Edmonton’s Grindstone Theatre, presents Blackout at the 2016 Edmonton International Fringe Festival. Directed by “national treasure” Dana Anderson (Second City Alumni, Caution May Contain Nuts, Die Nasty) Blackout is a Sketch Comedy show that that finds comedy in the absurd, the repetitive, the mundane and the absurd.

Inspired by the notorious writing styles of The Second City and The P.I.T, Blackout is a brand new sketch comedy group comprised of writers working around the clock to present hilarity in a 60 minute show. As improv is Blackout’s main tool for writing, each sketch will feel as organic as an improvised scene and will leave you wanting more.

Blackout is a part of the 2016 Edmonton International Fringe Festival and takes the stage August 11th – 21st, 2016.  The performance venue is El Cortez Mexican Kitchen and Tequila Bar, 8230 Gateway Blvd, Venue #29. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased in advance on the Fringe website: www.fringetheatre.ca.

Some of the shortest and funniest setups and executions I’ve ever seen live…this should be filmed and preserved immediately!” – Edmonton Journal
