Auditions (Edmonton): Student Drama Troupe Ensemble Members – Fort Edmonton Park

Fort Edmonton ParkFort Edmonton Park is hiring 4 student ensemble members for their Historical Drama Troupe.

This position is for 12-weeks, from June 6 through August 27. It is funded in part through the Canada Summer Jobs program and as such, applicants must be 30 years of age or under and be continuing in a post-secondary institution.

About the position: The Drama Troupe Ensemble Members help to animate the Fort’s Midway and provide entertainment for guests at Fort Edmonton Park using an historical repertoire of song, dance and short vaudeville style performance. They will report to the Drama Troupe Supervisor and Drama Troupe Team Leads and attend rehearsals leading up to the busy season in July and August.

The ideal candidates will have experience with performing in front of a crowd and maintaining an audience’s attention. Performances include outdoor roving experiences, puppet shows for kids, short plays in the midway tent and pop up song and dance numbers. Strong improvisational skills are important for adapting to different audiences. Dance training, singing and playing an instrument are considered an asset for this position.

This is a 30 hr/week position for a 12-week period, from June 6 to August 27, 2016. Compensation is an hourly wage of $14.00/hr.

Auditions will be held at Fort Edmonton Park from June 1-3.

Applicants are asked to prepare 5-8 minutes of material, which may include a monologues, songs or dance numbers. If you play an instrument please bring it with you and be prepared to play.
