Auditions (Calgary): Bilingual Actors for School Tour – Quest Theatre

Quest TheatreQuest Theatre’s 2016 Alberta School Tour of Souliers de Sable or Shoes of Sand by Suzanne Lebeau translated into English by John Van Burek.

Performed in French and English.

We are asking Equity and Non-Equity actors to submit for the following roles. Only Bilingual artists need apply.

Character Breakdown:

  • Leo – Male.
  • Elise – Female.

Important Dates:

  • Rehearsal Sept 22 – Oct 8, 2016 (Sunday off) .
  • Touring till Nov 18, 2016.

  • Holdover Option: TBA .

Description: 
Élise and Léo are brother and sister. They have come to fear the outside world and have conditioned themselves to adhere to a rigid schedule dictated by the sand in the hourglass. One day they accidentally let their flying shoes escape out the front door. The siblings are forced to venture into the unknown and joyfully discover the simple wonders the world has to offer. 
SHOES OF SAND is a poetic story told imaginatively through puppetry and creative staging.

Auditions will take place in Calgary in late May.

Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, May 17, 2016.

Quest Theatre is open to inspiration from any artist who is passionate about sharing their love of theatre with young people. We welcome artists of various races, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, and ability, as these represent the audience we serve.

As Quest Theatre is a touring company, artists cannot be enrolled as full or part-time students as of September 2016. We are considering local, Calgary artists, but will consider artists that are able to travel to Calgary and find accommodation for themselves to make Calgary their point of origin while on contract.
