IGNITE! Festival of Emerging Artists is seeking a motivated and organized individual for the volunteer position of Producing and Administrative Assistant.

Produced by Sage Theatre, IGNITE! Festival of Emerging Artists presents exciting work from new voices. Emerging artists in all fields get the opportunity to present their work to Calgary audiences. The festival is dedicated to supporting, mentoring and presenting emerging artists of all disciplines. The IGNITE! Festival allows artists to embrace risks in a supportive environment while providing resources, a bridge to the professional arts community, and meaningful opportunities for collaboration and community building with their peers.

We are seeking individuals who are enthusiastic about theatre and the arts, who wish to learn more about arts festivals and not-for-profit arts organization. Applicants should be able to work both in a collaborative team and independently, with motivation and initiative. Previous administrative experience and computer skills are considered an asset. This volunteer opportunity is well-suited to emerging artists and arts administrators seeking experience and training with regards to the business and operations of an arts festival.

Some of the Production / Administrative Assistant’s responsibilities could include:

Producing Duties:

• Helping organize and coordinate the cabaret series and the play reading series.
• Event planning and execution.

Administrative Duties:

• Public funding applications.
• Develop and maintain company archives.
• Website and social media maintenance.

A specific list of responsibilities will be developed in collaboration with the successful applicant, based on the company’s needs and the applicant’s interests.

Hours are negotiable; the estimated time commitment is 5-10 hours / week, with a preference for some daytime availability.

The term of this volunteer position is March-June 2016.
