Trunk Theatre presents the Tony and Pulitizer Prize nominated In the Next Room or the vibrator play by Sarah Ruhl.

Where: Backstage Theatre (10330-84 Avenue)

When: February 17-27, 2016

The production stars Julien Arnold, Mat Busby, Althea Cunningham, Monica Maddaford, Byron Martin, Caley Suliak and Gianna Vacirca. It is directed by Amy DeFelice, with costumes by Geri Dittrich and set/lights by Adam Tsuyoshi-Turnbull.

“1880s New York, at the dawn of electricity, a pioneering technique is used to treat nervous disorders. But why does it make the patients so confused and so happy? An intellectual sex farce inspired by the true story of how the vibrator was used to treat male and female ‘hysteria.’ By the turn of the century, the vibrator was battery operated and was the fifth household appliance ever to be electrified.”
