SCRIPT SALON PRESENTS A THRLLINGLY THEATRICAL ODYSSEY OF CONSCIENCE IN KEN CAMERON’S AWARD WINNING THE BLOGFATHER
On Sunday, February 7 SCRIPT SALON is proud to present a reading of the extraordinary 2015 winner of the Alberta Playwriting Competition: Ken Cameron’s THE BLOGFATHER.
THE STORY: Invited to act as a judge at an Iranian Arts festival, a naive Canadian playwright (Chris Craddock) finds himself ill-equipped to navigate the crushing politics and subtle rebellion at the heart of Iranian society. But when he encounters a young Iranian/Canadian blogger who has incurred the anger of the state (Jeff Halaby), the playwright sees first hand the courage and consequences of expressing free speech in a totalitarian nation. THE BLOGFATHER is an unexpectedly theatrical and affecting tribute based on playwright Ken Cameron’s personal experiences in Iran.
The play is read by Chris Craddock, Jeff Halaby and Roya Yazdenmehr.
Sunday, February 7 at 7:30 in the Upper Arts Space at Holy Trinity Anglican Church (10037 84 Avenue).
Admission is free although donations are accepted. Refreshments are available. Parking is free.
After the reading the audience is encouraged to ask questions and provide commentary directly to the playwright.
SCRIPT SALON is sponsored and supported by the Playwrights Guild of Canada, Alberta Playwrights Network and Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
