The Major Matt Mason Collective in association with Sage Theatre presents The Wildfire National Playwriting Competition!
What is Wildfire?
Wildfire is a national playwriting competitions for young Canadian playwrights 30 years of age or under. We are looking for playwrights to submit fresh, young scripts that embrace risk, grit and evocation. The winning script(s) selected by our jury will receive a cash prize and a one week development workshop culminating in a performance at the IGNITE! Festival in Calgary, Alberta (as well as full or partial reimbursement for travel).
What kind of workshop?
- We want this workshop to be led by you. The playwright has full control over what they want in the workshop and performance.
- Want solid dramaturgical help to solve that one nagging question (you know, the one that keeps you up at night?) We can do that!
- Want to get it on its feet and explore movement or design elements? We can do that!
- Just want to just nail down a really solid reading? Let’s do it!
What kind of cash prize?
We will be awarding $1000 for first place and $350 for the runner-up, as well as full or partial travel reimbursement for the first place playwright to Calgary, AB for the workshop.
