Accepting Applications for YOUth Riot – Free Youth LGBTQ+ Playwriting Program
YouthRiot 2016:
- Do you identify as an LGBTQQAIP2S+ youth?
- Do you want to create art with like-minded teens from across the city?
- Are you interested in learning creative ways to share your story?
- Do you want to learn from some of the best theatre artists in Calgary?
Then WE WANT YOU for YOUth Riot, a FREE opportunity for Calgary’s queer youth to rise against the status quo and learn to share their voices through the art of theatre!
YOUth Riot 2016 (in its second year) is brought you by Alberta Playwrights Network and Third Street Theatre – Calgary’s only Queer Theatre Company dedicated to the positive and responsible representation of humans across the Queer spectrum through the art of theatre.
Youth across Calgary are encouraged to apply for this free 3-month program where you will learn tools and skills from professionals in the Calgary arts community to help develop your own short play. Or work of fiction. Or spoken-word poem. The possibilities are endless!
Program Details:
- YOUth Riot is 100% free to you.
- No experience necessary.
- You must identify as LGBTQ+
- The program will run every Wednesday @ 6:30-9:00 pm | Feb 10 – May 11
- All meetings are at CommunityWise Resource Centre, 223 12th Ave SW.
- All pieces created will be featured in a showcase May 11th at 7pm at Lunchbox Theatre.
