2016 SkirtsAfire herArts Festival presents Gidion’s Knot

After a roaring success with its Canadian premiere at the 2016 Edmonton Fringe Festival, SkirtsAfire and Chorus Productions are proud to present Gidion’s Knot by American playwright Johnna Adams. The production will run March 3 – March 13, 2016 in the Black Box Theatre in the Alberta Avenue Community League (9210 118 Ave) and features Lianna Shannon and Amber Lewis with direction by John Hudson and stage management by Jenn Best.

Gidion’s Knot brings us a parent teacher interview from hell; a teacher and mother’s worst nightmare. The anguished mother and emotionally overwhelmed primary school teacher must come to terms with the mother’s son Gidion, who may have been severely bullied—or he may have been an abuser. As his story is revealed, the women try to reconstruct a satisfying explanation for Gidion’s shocking act and come to terms with excruciating feelings of culpability.

Here’s what the critics had to say:

“The story twists and twists again, sinks you deeper and carries palpable charge. I’ll be thinking about this show for months.”  – Paul Blinov, VUE Weekly

“Director John Hudson is superb in steering the hairpin turns. Gidion’s Knot is incredibly powerful, gripping and uncomfortable. It’s one to see.” – Anna Borowiecki, St. Albert Gazette
