5CradleFROM CRADLE TO STAGE 2016! AUDITIONS

Walterdale Theatre’s 2016 From Cradle to Stage New Play Festival will be holding auditions on Sunday February 7th and Monday February 8th for Alison Neuman’s THE SUNSET SYNDROME and Sherilyn Brady Cook’s BOTTLED UP.

The Festival runs from May 16th-May 21st.

THE SUNSET SYNDROME

Synopsis: Emily watched her husband of 60 years fight a battle with dementia and its related complications. A few years after his passing, she too is diagnosed with dementia. As Emily struggles with difficult decisions about her future, she reflects on important moments from her past.

Characters: 3F, 3M

F1: Emily, 60-80 strong willed, the storyteller
F2: Ensemble, 25-40, plays variety of roles
F3: Ensemble, 18-30, plays variety of roles

M1: Sam, 60-80, Emily’s husband
M2: Ensemble, 25-40, plays variety of roles
M3: Ensemble, 18-30, plays variety of roles

BOTTLED UP

Synopsis: Kimberly and her mother, Brenda, have had a rocky relationship at best. When Brenda dies, Kimberly finds herself back in time in 1955 with her young grandmother. Kimberly is faced with the chance to change the past in order to save a life, but, in doing so, she may have to end another.

Characters: 3F, 3M

F1: Kimberley, late 30s, early 40s
F2: Brenda, late 50s, early 60s
F3: Dorothy, mid- to late 20s

M1: Jake, late 30s, early 40s; roughly same age as Kimberley
M2: Clive, mid- to late 30s
M3: Tom, late 40s/early 50s

Audition Information:

Sunday February 7th, 7:00pm-10:00pm
Monday February 8th, 6:00pm-9:00pm
Callbacks (if required): TBA

Location: Walterdale Theatre (10322 83 Ave NW)

Rehearsals will begin in mid-February to early March.
Actors must be available for the entire Festival — May 16th-May 21st.

Auditioners will be assigned into distinct segments of time for each evening:
7:00pm – 8:20pm or 8:40pm – 10:00pm for February 7th.
6:00pm – 7:20pm or 7:40pm – 9:00pm for February 8th.

Auditions will consist of cold reads where no advance preparation is necessary. Each auditioner will read scenes from the plays in combination with 1 or 2 other auditioners.
