I Ain’t so Tough, a new play by Rose Scollard, Directed by Helen Young
Performance Dates: May 3 – 14, 2016 at The Motel Theatre, Arts Commons.
Rehearsal Dates: March and April, TBA
Play Outline and Character Breakdown: When Jesse, a feisty no-nonsense senior, receives a legacy from a soldier she danced with 50 years before, she is not as delighted as you might think. In fact, she’s a bit creeped out about it. She can scarcely remember the guy and feels she’s being manipulated by him from the grave.
1943:
Young Jesse: a smart young woman of 18, lippy, and one who avoids sentiment.
Young Iris: Jesses best friend, 18. The leader in the friendship.
Walter: a shy, gentle an ungainly farm boy, 18-20 years old.
1993:
Jesse: 68, still spry and lippy but there’s a bitter side to her now.
Iris: 68, shows her age more than Jesse, is confused, on the borderline of dementia.
Ace: a smooth operator, totally untrustworthy in Jesse’s opinion. In his 60’s.
