On the eve of William Shakespeare’s funeral, his widow, Anne Hathaway, reminisces on her life with — and without — the enigmatic poet and playwright, recounting her life as a wife, mother, and lover who has made tremendous sacrifices, not least of which to accept and support her husband’s unconventional sexuality.

Calgarian Elinor Holt delivers a nuanced and thoughtful Anne Hathaway in this one-woman drama from noted Canadian playwright Vern Thiessen. Well known for her work in comedic, musical and dramatic roles, Holt relishes the opportunity to give voice to a woman who is often seen — at best — as a historical footnote in the life of one of English literature’s most prolific and beloved, yet little-known, figures.
