This is your chance to move from one side of the camera to the other. and figure out what exactly you’re asking your actors to do! Deepen your understanding of the complexities of the acting process through a fun, hands-on class for non-actors. In a safe and non-judgmental space, find out more about how actors approach a script, the process they use to prepare for a film, and how they craft a performance on camera. Learn more about the vocabulary of acting, and concepts like: beats, objectives, motivation, text, subtext and more. Understand and use these ideas and techniques yourself as a screenwriter or director. The class will use acting exercises, improvisation, monologues and two-person scenes provided by Mieko Ouchi to explore the craft of performance from the writer/director perspective. Participants are not required to have any previous acting experience, just a positive attitude and be brave enough to jump in.
