heritage_park_logoThe Heritage Park Players are pleased to announce auditions their Once Upon A Christmas Musical Melodrama, Not a Shot Fired and for character roles for their Halloween event: Ghouls’ Night Out.

Play Information: Not a Shot Fired

Director: Trevor Matheson
Musical Direction: Melissa Dorsey
Time: The early 1900’s.
Setting: The interior of a General Store in a small western town.
Performance times: 11am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm during the weekends from November 21st to December 20th, 2015.

Miss. Jezebel is about to inherit one of the richest anthracite seams in all the Rocky Mountains, however Miss. Blackwell has a dynamite plan to inherit the land for herself. This puts newly arrived Constable William Blake in quite a predicament, as he duels with danger, deception and a distant admirer to bring justice to the town. This thrilling Christmas Musical Melodrama rustles up laughter and thrills for audiences of all ages.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
CONSTABLE WILLIAM BLAKE (male, 18 to 55)
A new recruit for the Royal North West Mounted Police. The straight man/hero, decent singing voice.

MISS. MYRTLE MAYFIELD (female, 18 to 55)
Love interest to the Constable. A comedic book worm and side kick to the Constable, decent singing ability.

JEZEBEL TURNER (female, 16 – 25ish)
Young, obnoxious and obsessed with the finer things in life.

MISS. BLACKWELL (female, 25+)
Charming personality, but a black hearted villain enraged by her demeaning position in society. Strong singing ability.

FAST WILLY (Male, any age) A smooth talking shop keeper. Side kick to the villain.

Audition Requirements:
If auditioning for the Constable, Miss. Myrtle or Miss. Blackwell a prepared song to highlight your vocal abilities. For all other roles, reads from the script.

Auditions for roles will take place in 15 minute slots on Sunday September 20th (10am to 3pm) & Monday September 21st (6:30pm to 9:30pm) in the Canmore Opera House at Heritage Park Historical Village (in Calgary).

Rehearsals will take place from the beginning of October through to November 20th twice a week for four hours. The specific times will be based on actor availability. Some roles will be double cast, so only a Saturday or Sunday commitment is required. This is a non paying gig and is a volunteer commitment.

Halloween Characters ~ Ghouls’ Night Out

The Heritage Park Players will be presenting various interactions outside on the streets of Heritage Park for its Ghouls’ Night Out Event running October 23rd, 24th, 25th, 29th & 30th from 5pm to 8:30pm. For each character there will be a few rehearsals set at the actor(s) convenience. This is a non paying gig and is a volunteer commitment.

Draculena Monologue
(Wing Chong Laundry)

A girl/lady escapes from a coffin only to discover the wonders of becoming a new Vampire. She sets on a course of making her first kill, her beloved cat Charles.

Character:
Draculena (Female aged 13 to 60).

The Goblin versus a Pirate Sword Fight
(Outside the Mindapore Train Station)

A pirate awakens after a night of plundering only to find a goblin warrior stalking him. The pirate must answer the goblins riddles or die fighting. There is an epic sword fight amongst the gathered booty choreographed to Pirates of the Caribbean style music.

Characters:
Pirate ~ (Male, any age).
Goblin ~ (Male or female, any age).

Scarecrow Comic
(Perched high above in front of the Thorpe House)

As guests pass by, standup comedy is delivered by a scarecrow, featuring the very best of Eddy Murphy, Seinfeld and knock knock jokes.

Ghost Train Characters:

Phantom Bride: Will interact with crowd looking for groom. Will board the train where she will disappear into the fog transforming into a phantom.

Bride Groom: Will alternate between sitting as a mannequin in train, looking and calling to his bride. Also he will de-boarding the train interacting with crowd and train conductor on platform continuing his quest to be reunited with his bride.

Porter: Helps actors to board train, and being especially attentive to the “Black Widow” and her pile of coffins containing her dead husbands.

Vampire: Actor will interact with crowd offering to drink them dry so that they can ride the ghost train.

Ticket Seller/Fortune Teller: Informs guests that only those carrying their death certificate can buy a ticket for the Ghost Train.
