News (Calgary): 2015 Betty Mitchell Award recipients announced

2015 BETTY MITCHELL AWARD RECIPIENTS ANNOUNCED!

Congratulations to all the recipients and nominees! The 18th Annual Betty Mitchell Awards gala, honouring professional theatre in Calgary from the previous season, was held on Monday, August 24, at Vertigo Theatre. The 2014/2015 professional theatre season (June 15, 2014–June 14, 2015) brought to the stage 87 shows eligible for Betty Mitchell Award nominations. 

2015 RECIPIENTS

Three special adjudicated awards will also be presented at the 2015 Betty Mitchell Awards:

  • The Duval Lang Theatre for Young Audiences Award (a $2000 cash prize) presented in conjunction with Quest Theatre, was presented to Suzanne Mott.
  • The Greg Bond Memorial Award (a $1000 cash prize, honouring Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theatre in Calgary) was presented to The Young Canadians School.
  • The Dean Ott/ Debbie Boult Award (honouring Outstanding Achievement in Technical Production) was presented to Lillian Messer.

Two additional special awards were announced during the gala:

  • Griffin Cork was presented the Emerging Leader Award.
  • Louis Hobson was recognized for Outstanding Achievement.
