Call for Submissions (Alberta): Community Scholarships – Edmonton Community Foundation

Edmonton Community Foundation has a long history of providing scholarships to help students achieve their educational dreams. The Community Scholarships were launched in 2009 to help students with the costs of post-secondary education and to help address emerging community priorities identified by the Foundation.

The application deadline for Community Scholarships is August 31st. Community Scholarships help students who are pursuing post-secondary education or vocational training and are experiencing financial need. Priority is given to students with a history of community involvement or leadership and is open to residents of Edmonton, northern Alberta, and Didsbury.

What are the eligibility requirements?

In order to meet the criteria for an award, applicants must demonstrate the following in their application:
  • Financial need.
  • Permanent residence or citizenship of Canada.
  • Residence in the greater Edmonton area, Northern Alberta and/or the Didsbury area.
  • Pursuit of a program of study leading to a recognized licence, certificate, diploma, undergraduate, or professional degree or non-credited learning opportunities such as conferences, workshops and training programs in Alberta. (Elsewhere in Canada may be considered; see “What schools and programs are eligible?” via the link below).

What is the application process?

The Awards Panel will review applications and select award recipients by the end of September. Candidates will be advised of the status of their application by email in early October. Edmonton Community Foundation will notify accepting post-secondary institutions of any scholarship recipients once all award conditions have been fulfilled.

In general, awards will be paid directly to the institution of study, to be applied to the recipient’s tuition
