Samuel Beckett at the Fringe!

ZyZi Theatre is back this year with a rare classic by Nobel Prize-winning playwright Samuel Beckett. Words and Music was written for the BBC in 1961 and has never been performed in Edmonton as far as we know.

Samuel Beckett is perhaps best known for his plays detailing the difficulty of living in a world in which there appears to be no meaning, such as Waiting for Godot, Endgame, Krapp’s Last Tape, and Happy Days.

Beckett wrote the text with no specific score and we are delighted to present it with an original score by Gareth Gilliland.

Actors Kieran Dunch, Gareth Gilliland, and Chase Jeffels return to ZyZi Theatre following last year’s Fringe hit The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard. Jeffels also appeared as Pip in Stewart Lemoine’s What Gives? produced by ZyZi in both the 2013 and 2014 Fringe festivals.

Words and Music is at Fringe BYOV Venue #22, Old Scona High School. 10523-84 Ave.
