About Company
Shoshinz is Japanese for “shy timid people,” but this surreal Tokyo comedian is subservient to nothing and no one. Yanomi started Shoshinz with her ex- coworker Kuronatsu, and she has created these unique non-verbal shows since 2005. Her delicate silences and coy demeanor will lure you in, and then they will bend your mind with brilliant physical theater, dance, absurd music and song.
Shoshinz is one of the most renowned comedy acts in Japan, regularly performing in Tokyo, Canada, and the United States. “As clown ratings go,” wrote the Montreal Gazette, “the irresistible Yanomi is right up there with the best of the Cirque du Soleil pros.” “It’s not often you run across a show that is satisfying for adults, kids, performers and stoners of all ages,” wrote Victoria’s Monday Magazine, “but that’s exactly what you get with this charming and quite often hilarious fast-paced slice of Tokyo clowning.”
Shoshinz has toured in Japan, Singapore, US, Canada, Czech Republic, and Taiwan, receiving rave reviews and standing ovations. At every stop Shoshinz was greeted with deep enthusiasm for her explosive energy and radical performance innovations.
About the Show
Kiss Around Pass Around is a fantastical solo physical comedy with a stunning sound design by Yanomi, with Japanese artists Shunji Nakamachi, Hiromichi Sakamoto, Jimanica, Hiroyuki Nishiyama, and the band AWESOME based in Seattle.
A mysterious creature is wandering the world looking for its daddy. North, south, east, and west… leaves, wind, water, thunder – for a peculiar traveler, anything can serve as a compass. This unruly innocent creature will sneak in and steal your heart.
