An Anonymous Contributor, A Solo Show by NYC artist Adriana Jones, Makes International Debut at Edmonton Fringe
An Anonymous Contributor, an original solo show about the shadowy world of academic ghostwriting, is having its international premiere at the Edmonton Fringe Festival this August. Performance dates are August 13th at 11:59 pm, August 15th at 8:45pm, August 16th at 6:15 pm, August 17th at 10:00 pm, August 19th at 12:00 pm, August 20th at 2:30 pm, and August 21st at 4:15 pm. The show will be performed at Fringe Venue #4, the Academy at King Edward (8525 101st street NW).
In the show, Adriana takes on the character of an academic ghostwriter- a woman who has written hundreds of papers, but whose name won’t be found on a single one. Cited as a “Highly Recommended” show by Fringe Review during its New York performance run, reviewer William Glenn praised the piece as a “sharp, witty one woman show about the hidden world of academic ghostwriting…[that] rings with authenticity… [and] lifts the carpet and shines a torch to see what lies beneath”, and Jones’s performance as “powerful…weaving a believable tapestry of neurosis, social anxiety, and high octane talent”. At turns darkly comic and piercingly vulnerable, An Anonymous Contributor is a richly imagined journey into the morally ambiguous world of an academic ghostwriter.
