On Sunday August 2 at 7:30 PM SCRIPT SALON will present a unique and compelling new play by internationally celebrated playwright Vern Thiessen: The Parables.
THE STORY: Through a series of comic and engaging short plays Vern Thiessen examines the complex nature of charity in the modern society. Can a person in need really be blamed for taking advantage of everyone who wants to help them? Do the people with money really have the best sense of how to help people with it? Can values be taught by donation? Can greed be empowering? The Parables is a thoroughly entertaining and thought provoking dissection of human nature and human need.
Read by Julien Arnold, Lora Brovold, Nadien Chu, Sheldon Elter, Kristi Hansen and Evan Smith.
Sunday August 2 at 7:30 in the Upper Arts Space at Holy Trinity Anglican Church (10037 84 Avenue).
Admission is free although donations are accepted. Refreshments will be provided. Parking is free.
After the reading the audience is encouraged to ask questions and provide commentary directly to the playwright.
SCRIPT SALON is sponsored and supported by the Playwrights Guild of Canada, Alberta Playwrights Network and Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
