Night Canopy Theatre is looking for a director our upcoming production of Redstart at the 2015 Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival. Redstart is a new 55 minute drama by Daniel Greenways. More information about the production can be found on our company’s website (nightcanopy.ca), as well as information about an audition for the final cast member. The pay for this directing job is the same as listed for actors in the audition notice (25% of the show’s net profit, or a small honorarium if the show takes a loss).

The director of this show will also have to be available for all of the show dates to assist the venue’s technicians in running light/sound cues.

Rehearsal and Performance Information:

Rehearsals for Redstart will be held at St. Paul’s United Church (which is close to the McKernan-Belgravia LRT station) starting around July 10 and continuing through the first half of August. Expect there to be 3-5 rehearsals per week. Rehearsal timing will be flexible to your schedule and the rest of the schedules of the small cast of this production. Most rehearsals will be in the afternoon or evening. There will be no rehearsals during the Edmonton Folk Music Festival (August 6-9).

The performances for this show are August 15 (4:15pm), 17 (8:00pm), 20 (9:45pm), 21 (5:45pm), and 23 (12:30pm). You have to be available for all of these times plus a half hour to an hour in advance of each of them.

The play stars Citadel Young Companies alumni Sydney Williams and Daniel Greenways, and an audition is being held on July 8th to cast the final role.

If you are interested in being considered for directing the show, please email your resume and/or acting/directing experience/training to dgg97@telus.net. Please also include a phone number.

We may contact you by phone or email before we choose the director to have a short interview.

Please submit your information by July 8, 2015.
