We are currently seeking a highly motivated, well-organized individual to provide consultative and informational services in the area of the visual arts.
Reporting to the Director of Arts Development, the Arts Development Consultant – Visual Arts and New Media plays an important role in the support and growth of Alberta’s visual arts community by providing artistic development, and resources to individual artists and arts organizations.
One area of major responsibility is the oversight of selected grant streams under the Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA). This involves regular communication with stakeholders to provide advice and guidance on topics such as eligibility, grant stream guideline interpretation and the application process. The successful candidate will also be responsible for grant administration and delivery by ensuring that all grants are delivered to clients efficiently and with maximum effect. This involves pre-audit of applications, assistance in grant writing, and providing financial analysis and recommendations to the AFA Grants Committee.
The successful candidate will also be tasked with providing expert advice and information to the Ministry on issues, programs and service requirements to ensure sustainability within the sector. The position will regularly interact and develop relationships with provincial and national sector contacts to remain current on issues, as well may be called on to provide information to other organizations regarding Alberta?s arts policy.
A university graduation in a related field, along with a minimum of four years of professional related experience in the arts sector is required. Equivalencies will be considered. Experience in the areas of consulting, budgeting, project management, issue analysis and resolution, client relations, and people management is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.
$2707.94 to $3549.74 bi-weekly ($70,406 to $92,284 per annum)
Along with a cover letter, candidates are asked to write a 200 word paragraph where they describe an issue currently facing the arts sector in Alberta and outline the role the Alberta Foundation for the Arts could play in addressing it.
