Title: Production & Program Manager
Term: 1 year contract (with possibility of renewal)
Compensation: $25/hr
Hours of Work: P/T. Approx. 7-10hrs per week; schedule dependent

Theatre Encounter is Calgary’s highly experimental physical theatre company. Our work is based on classic texts rendered into contemporary interpretations. For more information about our company, please read our website, www.theatreencounter.com.

Management Duties

• Financial reporting, bookkeeping, AGLC reporting, Casino Management
• Grant and funding management, development, and application
• Management of new rehearsal space, bookings etc.
• Production management, managing of creative team to production team, venue liaison and contract management
• Company management, staff / artist team management of contracts, job descriptions, etc.; host bi-weekly staff meetings
• Work with varied venues on Artistic Season (programs through the year) in terms of venue and rehearsal negotiations

Programming Duties

• Manage educational / artistic programs for artists connected to unique and experimental performance style
• Liaise with new CSpace venue on programming opportunities (Production Assistant at new theatre space at King Edward), including new programs that collaborate with other theatre companies
• Work to create and implement new programs: workshops, internships, work sessions, and the ‘creativity lab’
• Website upkeep and design

Qualifications

• Experience with financial management
• Experience with funding and grant development
• UnderGraduate / Graduate degree in the arts / management
• Experience in program creation, initiation, and development
• Experience in production management
• Experience co-ordinating and managing events
• Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
• Proven ability to recruit, motivate, and manage volunteers
• Pro-active self-starter able to work independently
• Agreeable and invested in experimental theatre production and style
• Demonstrated commitment to small arts-based company and support
• Vehicle access preferred but not required
• Experience is required as per above, however, we are willing to train
