Visiting Guest Artist in Contemporary Dance – Winter 2016

The School of Creative and Performing Arts, Division of Dance is seeking a dance artist who will provide our students with a strong base in current Contemporary dance techniques, and who will also contribute significantly to the students’ national and international perspective on Contemporary dance.

Responsibilities

The Visiting Guest Artist will be responsible for teaching all levels of Contemporary dance technique to dance majors, minors and non-majors; teaching choreography to 2nd year dance majors; and creating a new work or setting repertory on advanced dance majors. The candidate will also be expected to provide service to the Dance Division i.e. mentoring and advising dance students.

Qualifications

The successful artist will be expected to have an MFA in Dance, or equivalent professional experience, national and/or international reputation as a dance artist with significant experience teaching Contemporary dance at university and/or professional levels, an international perspective on contemporary trends in dance as developed through dance practice, professional experience in the areas of contemporary dance techniques from a release training perspective, contact improvisation, choreography, and performance creation. Knowledge of release based or Limon based work is an asset.

About

This position requires
– a 14-week commitment from one guest artist from January 11 – April 13, 2016 OR
– a 7-week commitment each from 2 guest artists: January 11 – Feb 28, 2016 and February 27 – April 16, 2016.
