Position: FriendRaiser Volunteer Team Leader

The FriendRaiser Team Leader is an integral part in the success of the FriendRaisers Team and assists in the execution of the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival; August 13-23, 2015. As a not-for-profit organization, the Fringe relies on patron support to be successful. The FriendRaisers Team has an important role in helping cover the costs of the Festival. A FriendRaiser welcomes patrons as they enter the Fringe site and asks them to contribute to our Donate at the Gate program. The successful candidate for this position will possess strong leadership skills to direct and motivate a team of volunteers to raise money for the Festival.

Responsibilities

 Work with other Team Leaders to schedule, train and supervise FriendRaiser volunteers
 Provide structure and direction for the FriendRaisers Team
 Motivate, delegate and coach team members
 Share the message of the Donate at the Gate program with patrons and volunteers
 Interact with patrons on-site and share opportunities to financially support the Festival
 Adhere to the Team Leader Code of Conduct
 Other duties as required, including the writing of a final report

Qualifications/Skills and Proficiencies

 Education or experience in a related field is an asset (fundraising, donor relations, etc.)
 Must be 18 years of age or older
 3 years volunteer experience with Fringe Theatre Adventures; 3 years supervisory experience with another festival; OR 3 years of experience working at another festival gate (unless otherwise approved by the Volunteer Manager)
 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
 Strong leadership and organizational skills
 Supervisory and team building experience
 Computer skills are an asset (ie: excel and email experience)

The ideal candidate would be:

 Comfortable personally asking Festival patrons for a donation to support the Festival
 Responsible and professional in interactions with patrons
 Outgoing and energetic with a positive attitude
 Able to handle being on their feet for a four-hour outdoor shift
