Rosebud Centre of the Arts recently announced a significant gift which will double the impact of each private contribution made in 2015. Lois and Richard Haskayne of Calgary have pledged to match each dollar donated up to $250,000.
“We’re really excited by the possibilities of this fundraising campaign, called The Harvest. Donors can make a real impact. Twenty-five dollars becomes fifty dollars when matched by the Haskaynes. Five hundred dollars means one thousand dollars for the school, the theatre and the centre,” says Adam Furfaro, RCA Executive Director. “This is an incredible opportunity for capacity building and long-term sustainability. Our goal is to raise $650,000 from contributed revenue this year through a combination of private donations, foundations and corporate sponsorships.”
Well-known in both business and philanthropy circles, the Haskaynes have deep ties to the Rosebud area. Mrs. Haskayne (nee Kenney) grew up in the community of Redland just west of Rosebud. Mr. Haskayne was raised in nearby Gleichen.
Steadfast supporters, the Haskaynes note, “The school, the theatre and the whole centre, whose vision aligns with ours, provides quality education and entertainment. Simply, it has kept the community of Rosebud alive. We are proud to honour our rural roots and to offer financial support to ensure continued success! This organization is a remarkable example of rural regeneration through arts and education, a proud voice for our Alberta heritage, and an inspiring example of rural creativity and innovation.”
