Synopsis:

Aimwell and Archer are the beaux, two young men who have spent all their fortunes on wild living.. They leave London and roam from town to town in search of a wealthy heiress for one of them to marry so that they can share her fortune.. They pose as master and servant – exchanging roles from one town to the next. In Lichfield, Aimwell is the master and Archer is the servant, and there they meet the lovely, wealthy Dorinda and her equally desirable sister-in-law, Mrs. Sullen. This could be their opportunity but problems abound. Kate, who is married to a drunk who despises her (and she him) sees through their scheme. The Iinnkeeper’s saucy daughter, Cherry, has set her heart on Archer, Dorinda’s mother, Lady Bountiful, guards her daughter like a dragon, and highwaymen plan to rob her house that very night, putting all the beaux’ schemes in comedic jeopardy.
