Message from the Minister of Culture and Tourism

As Minister responsible for culture and tourism, I am pleased to offer warm greetings to the participants of the 2015 Theatre Alberta Artstrek Program.

Every aspiring theatre star must begin somewhere and, in our province, one of the best places to start is at the Theatre Alberta Artstrek summer school. Guided by seasoned professionals, young people will have the chance to explore and examine the depth and scope of their imaginations, refine their techniques and hone their skills while making new friends and gaining lifelong experiences. It is sure to be a busy summer creating rich rewards that will last long after the program ends.

My warm thanks to Theatre Alberta and the many educators and parents involved for leading the charge in creating a strong and vibrant arts culture in Alberta.

Best wishes for another successful Artstrek!

Message from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts

On behalf of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, welcome to this year’s Artstrek, an important tradition of development, experience, and enjoyment for budding Alberta theatre artists.

Artstrek has become a vital cog in Alberta’s thriving theatre community by offering young Albertans an opportunity to develop their talent and passion in a creative environment. We recognize the essential value our young artists provide: the next idea, expression or work that will capture our imagination and infuse the community with excitement and enthusiasm, helping to renew and continue the love of art from one generation to the next.

The Alberta Foundation for the Arts believes that an important part of our mission is to nurture emerging artists as they find their individual paths. We hope you enjoy this exploration of talent, creativity and passion with some of Alberta’s finest theatre professionals. Take inspiration from the talents of the people in your community and give back by inspiring others to discover, experience and celebrate art and creativity in their daily life.
