What’s On (Holden): The Great Big Wild West Hero Show – Beaverhill Players Junior Players

Legal_Poster_2015_v4The Beaverhill Players presents its 5th Annual Junior Players Showcase this April. Come out and see what our theatre school students have been working on! Showcase is the students’ opportunity to demonstrate skills they’ve learned throughout the year through various sketch and improv activities, and after the intermission we do our play. Total run time is approx. 2h15m including intermission.

Showcase runs April 17 & 18, 2015. Show time is 7pm, doors open at 6. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for under 18s.
Whose turn is it to crash the wedding this week? Will the real Indians and Army please stand up, and if not, do the stand-ins at least get to keep the costumes? Is this your father’s kind of lemonade, or can the kids take some home too? Will the Lees’ telegram for help fall on deaf ears? And what’s going to happen to the townsfolk when the mine closes? Hopefully they’ll all go off to run a newfangled theme park in California.

But there’s only one way to find out! Come and see The Great Big Wild West Hero Show this April!

Palisades, Nevada, 1873.

Travelers from the east have heard that the West is a lawless frontier, with daily gunfights between desperate outlaws and tough sheriffs and their deputies. There are indeed some places where this is true, but by this time much of the west has been settled and civilized. There are still places where one shouldn’t go, but that’s as true today as it was then.

The people of Palisades decided to put on a show for the visitors who got off the train to look around during its short stop in the town. They staged gunfights and bank robberies to keep the image of the Old West alive and make some tourist dollars to boot.

For a few years, it was good, but all things come to an end.

And it probably didn’t end anything like this, but it would have been fun!
