Seamstress or Seamster

Fort Edmonton Park is has two short term seamstress (or seamster) positions available. Using historical and modern sewing techniques, this person will alter and repair historical costumes ranging from the 1840s to the 1920s. Attention to detail, along with the ability to work within tight deadlines, is integral to this position. The candidate must be very adaptable and able to work with a team, follow verbal directions and work independently.

Qualifications for this position include:

• Completion or enrollment in a sewing related program, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to complete alterations with accuracy and efficiency by hand or by machine.
• Good communication skills, ability to read, write and speak English.
• Related experience is an asset

The duration of the position is approximately seven weeks beginning March 30 and ending May 15, 2015 and may include working Saturdays. Good Friday and Easter Monday will be unpaid holidays. The rate of pay will be $14.00 per hour, 37.5 hrs per week. Hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with some Saturdays as agreed upon.
