Professional Development Workshops 2015

Ryan-McPhee-Aug-19-12

Fringe Theatre Adventures is excited to offer a Professional Development Series comprised of workshops conducted by theatre professionals in the performing arts industry. The Professional Development Series has been made possible from an investment by the Universiade ‘83 Foundation – City of Edmonton.

In these workshops participants will have the opportunity to develop and enhance new skills, interact with theatre industry artists, and explore a new area of focus in performing arts.

The workshops are open to anyone with an interest in theatre right up to the most experienced of artists or theatre producers.

The Producer

Presented by: Fringe Theatre Adventures

Annie Dugan | Artistic Director: Firefly Theatre & Circus

Facilitated by: Murray Utas | Artistic Director: Fringe Theatre Adventures
Very few artists are lucky enough to spend their career working for other companies; the majority of their time is spent having to either find the work or better yet, create it themselves. This is easily the most overlooked aspect in an artist’s development and training. They are given the skills to prepare them as an actor, but not to succeed in the business of the art.

This workshop will prepare participants for grant writing, budgeting, insurance, and administration. Participants will use each of these concepts in practical scenarios based on their participation in the creation of theatre work. The concepts of movement, ensemble, and found space culminate in this workshop designed to answer the question, “How do I make this a show, and how do I get people to see it?”
