GeriActors is pleased to invite you to Tools for Health Training led by Dance Exchange (Washington, D.C.) They seek to create dances that arise from asking: Who gets to dance? Where is the dance happening? What is it about? Why does it matter? They are an intergenerational company of artists that creates dance and engages people in making art. They break boundaries between stage and audience, theatre and community, movement and language, tradition and the unexplored.
This is an intensive workshop for artists, healthcare professionals and students that trains individuals in the skilled integration of artistic methods into the medical and health wellness fields.
Participants will be introduced to the Dance Exchange tools and multi-disciplinary approach to art and art making that combines movement, verbal expression, creative challenge and collaboration to facilitate artistic practices with clients and patients.
The Dance Exchange has been a leader in the field of arts and healthcare since its founding in 1976 by Liz Lerman. The Toolbox has been developed and refined through years of work in many settings and with various populations. The Tools for Health Training shares and further explores this work and these practices.
