One Flea Spare “trapped by the plague”
Obie Winning One Flea Spare by Naomi Wallace at Varscona Theatre
“I sat in the theater … after the closing monologue of One Flea Spare, unable to move….nothing had prepared me – not my admiration for her plays and for her beautiful, harsh, moving, brilliantly political poetry – for the experience of watching this play, which is in my opinion one of the finest works of dramatic literature written here or in England in the last two decades.”
(Tony Kusher)
Trunk Theatre presents the Obie Award winning play One Flea Spare by Naomi Wallace at the Varscona Theatre from February 5th-15th, 2015. The production is directed by Amy DeFelice; and stars Eva Foote, Linda Grass, Cliff Kelly, Glenn Nelson and Doug Tokaryk.
In 1665 the plague has brought chaos to London. A wealthy couple have nearly served out their quarantine when two strangers break into their home, seeking refuge. Quarantined together, these strangers fear each other as much as they fear the plague. Definitions of morality are up for grabs and survival takes many forms in this fiercely intense and humorous play.
Tickets are available at the door or through Tix-on-the-Square 780-420-1757 or www.tixonthesquare.ca. The show previews (pay-what-you-can preview) February 5th and opens February 6th. Performances are Tuesday-Saturday at 7:30pm, with 2:00pm matinees on February 7th, 14th & 15th.
