SYNOPSIS:
Scared of Improvising? This class aims to change your mind. Through games, exercises, and discussion, you’ll learn some of the tricks, the tactics, and the dos and don’ts of improvisation. Come prepared to step up, step out, and act out in this dynamic, hands-on workshop. Participation is not only mandatory, it’s inevitable. Note: it is not necessary to make the instructor or anyone else in the class laugh….less scared? Sign up!
INSTRUCTOR BIO:
Karen Johnson-Diamond has worked as a professional actor, instructor and improviser for 24 years, appearing with most major theatre companies in Calgary and Edmonton. She is the Co-Artistic Producer of Calgary’s Dirty Laundry, an improvised soap opera, now in its 15th season. and teaches Improvisation at the University of Calgary. Karen is an instructor and coordinator for Quest Theatre’s Artist in Residence program and is the Administrative Director at Artstrek, Theatre Alberta’s summer drama school for teens. Recently, she appeared in FX’s new TV show Fargo and has served on the board of Theatre Alberta and the Steering Committee for the Betty Mitchell Awards in Calgary. In 2009 Karen was awarded the inaugural Duval Lang Theatre for Young Audiences Award.
