AlbertaArtsAwardsNominate a Distinguished Artist

Alberta’s most prestigious arts awards come around just once every two years. Nominations for the 2015 Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Distinguished Artist Awards are now open!

Up to three awards will be given to artists, artist collectives, or arts promoters and builders. Each award includes a $30,000 award, a hand-crafted medal, and where appropriate, a two-week residency at The Banff Centre Leighton Artists Colony.

To prepare for the nomination:

  • Ensure the nominee is a Canadian citizen, lives in Alberta, or has had a significant connection to Alberta over time.
  • Speak to your nominee, let them know you will be nominating them, ask for a current CV and their complete contact information.
  • Write a document of no more than three pages, single spaced, explaining why this nominee merits Alberta’s top recognition for artistic achievement. Include highlights of the nominee’s artistic achievements and/or their contribution to advancing their artistic discipline. If the nominee does not currently reside in Alberta, clearly outline their connection to Alberta and their contribution to growing our province’s arts and culture.
  • Fill out the contact information online and upload the nomination and CV documents.

Nominations must be received before midnight MST Friday, February 28, 2015.

Recipients will receive awards in Lethbridge, June 6, 2015, with the awards gala, dinner, and one-of-a-kind after party at CASA, the City of Lethbridge’s state-of-the-art interdisciplinary arts centre.
