Ignition Theatre and Prime Stock Theatre would like to invite Equity and Non-Equity actors to audition for the role of Amanda in their Co-Production of the Tennessee Williams classic, The Glass Menagerie.

Auditions will be scheduled by appointment between the dates of November 25th and December 16th, 2014 at the Scott Block Theatre in Red Deer, Alberta.

Actors are welcome to prepare a monologue, but will also be asked to read from
and discuss the play.

To book an audition, please email Production Manager Stephanie Ridge (stephanie@ignitiontheatre.ca) with a copy of your resume, headshot and preferred date and time. We will do our best to accommodate your request, but due to the number of submissions, it may not be possible.

Rate: $410/Week. $2050/Total.
Please Note: Equity Artists will be engaged under the Indie 2.0 agreement.

Actors who have previously worked with Ignition Theatre are asked to please submit a letter of interest and an updated headshot and resume via email.

The Glass Menagerie

(Please Note: Rehearsals will take place Mon-Fri from 10am to 5:30pm daily. Technical rehearsal and performance schedule can be provided upon request.)

Synopsis:

Amanda Wingfield is a Southern belle past her prime, living with two grown children in a small apartment in St. Louis. Amanda dreams of a better life for her shy and crippled daughter Laura, and so she pushes her son Tom to find a “gentleman caller” for the girl. However, the arrival of the gentleman caller sends shockwaves through the family and causes cracks to form in the delicate fantasies that have kept them going.

Character Breakdown:

Amanda Wingfield – Laura and Tom’s mother. A proud, vivacious woman,
Amanda clings fervently to memories of a vanished, genteel past.
She is simultaneously admirable, charming, pitiable and laugha
